Hello from Atlanta
Enjoying our short break here in Atlanta. The weather is definitely better than in CT. It's still not crazy warm, only low 50ies but a lot better than the snow and cold at home. When we left CT we had another snow storm and it sounds like there is more on the way for early next week. I am definitely ready for spring at this point. It's March tomorrow so we really should be done with the snow. But of course that's not how that works.
Anyway, having fun on our short weekend trip. Went to the aquarium yesterday which was super crowded but still lots of fun. Definitely one of the better aquariums we have been to. Today we are going to the zoo which should be fun too. It's also nice to hang out with our friend Tommy who we haven't seen in quite some time. Always fun to see people you haven't seen in a while.
Short mail update for today. A letter went out to Charles/TN on Tuesday. A letter should also be going out soon to: Caroline/Scotland. Received letters from/still owe replies to: Emilia/Finland, Celia/MA and Nina/WA.

Lazy weekend
Definitely a sleepy lazy weekend. Didn't do much at all today. Took care of the dishes that had piled up, put a few things away but mostly just surfed the web and did mindless stuff. I guess fighting a cold takes some energy out of you. I don't have anything major (sore throat, congested, headache, etc) but it's still annoying.
Were out late yesterday celebrating a friend's birthday which was fun. Was nice to be able to sleep in today. In a little while we will probably have a small dinner and then catch up on some shows. And luckily we still have another day off tomorrow. Nice to have a weekend at home doing nothing.
Next weekend we are off to Atlanta, just a short 2-night trip to visit a friend. Will be fun. Managed to get a really cheap flight deal. Hopefully by next weekend I should be over this annoying cold again too. I am definitely ready for spring at this point.

Happy Valentine's Day!
We are back in CT and back in the snow. Luckily we didn't get quite as much snow here as in a lot of other places. New York got a lot more so we first had to dig our car out in the parking lot before we were able to head home. But another storm is supposed to head our way on Tuesday so we will see what happens with that. After spending some time in the sun I am definitely ready for spring. :)
Happy Valentine's Day to everyone. :) No huge plans today. We have dinner reservations at Prespa at 7pm. Mike is dealing with an annoying cough but it seems to be getting a little better. On Thursday we had our 9-year wedding anniversary which we celebrated in sunny Puerto Rico. Could get used to that. :)
Next week Thursday is Mike's birthday. February is always a busy month for us. :) Anniversary, Valentine's Day, Mike's birthday.
Started watching the Vienna Opera Ball I recorded while we were away. Always fun to watch, to see the opening ceremony and all the nicely dressed people. Sort of like an Austrian version of the Oscar's. :)
Short mail update for today. A Letter went out on Friday to Kimber/Canada and one is going tomorrow to Jessica/DE. Received letters from/still owe replies to: Charles/TN, Caroline/Scotland and Nina/WA.

More PR
So here is another update from our island adventure. Having a really good time. So far we have really lucked out with the weather. No rain at all.
San Juan was lots of fun yesterday. The Old Town is very pretty, so many great views. It's surrounded by water on three sides so a great ocean view is never far away. We went to the fort which was neat, walking around there. Afterwards we had lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe and walked around some more. When we got back to the hotel we swam in the pool and had a light dinner.
Today we got an early start and went to the rainforest. Definitely a really cool experience. Very tropical and nothing like anything I have ever seen. We hiked three trails, all very different. One led to a waterfall which was really cool. Another one climbed about 600 feed in elevation in about a mile so it was very steep but really cool views from the top.
After the rainforest we had lunch at one of the kiosks at the beach and then went to Luquillo Beach. Gorgeous turquoise water. Sooo nice. We decided to go swim in the ocean for a bit which was lots of fun until I stopped paying attention for a minute and a wave pretty much knocked me over and made me tumble upside down for a little bit. Wow, I didn't know you could get sand in that many places. Guess I will be paying more attention next time. LOL. :)
Short mail update for today. Letters went out yesterday to: Alex/Germany and Celia/MA. Received letters from/still owe replies to: Caroline/Scotland, Nina/WA and Kimber/Canada.

Hello from sunny Puerto Rico
It's very weird being in this warm weather all of a sudden, wearing short sleeve shirts, bikinis, swimming in the ocean, etc. when only the day before we were freezing like crazy. Don't get me wrong, I am definitely not complaining, it's just very different.
We ended up getting to the resort around 3:30pm yesterday. Took us a little while to get the car etc. The resort is absolutely gorgeous by the way. Two big pools, huge grounds, loads of restaurants/bars, etc. And it's right by the beach. So after cecking in we pretty much headed straight to the beach and played in the ocean (fun waves) until sunset.
Afterwards we took the shuttle over to the Country Club by the golf course where they have a restaurant and bar. Was different watching the Super Bowl in a bar overlooking the rainforest. :) Had some yummy Mai Tais.
Today we are heading into San Juan to explore the Old Town. Looking forward to that. It was already 72F (22C) this mornng so by now I am sure it's even warmer. I am sure it will be a fun day.
Tomorrow we will probably check out the rainforest that's right next to our resort. There is also another cool beach with loads of food kiosks very close to here. So we will check all that out over the next few days.
Short mail update for today. Wrote letters on the way down to: Alex/Germany and Celia/MA. Received letters from/still owe replies to: Caroline/Scotland, Nina/WA and Kimber/Canada.

Cold Sunday ... tomorrow it's off to the warm weather
It's very strange being in a hotel so close to New York. But it feels good to be on vacation and tomorrow morning we will be on a plane to sunny Puerto Rico. Yay. :)
Spent the day in NYC with our Australian friends Nicki and Damien. Was a good day even though it was brutally cold. At least the snow never really happened. I know not too far south from here they got buried so I am glad we got spared. Nicki and Damien's flight to Orlando through DC got cancelled due to the weather so I hope they make it down to Orlando soon. Everything looks ok for our flight so far.
Had a good time walking around South Street Seaport, had lunch there and then went to the Transit Museum in Brooklyn. After that we walked around the Village for a bit and then had dinner at Arturo's. Walked around Rockefeller Plaza and 5th Avenue for a little while after that. After parting with them we drove over to Newark airport, staying at a Best Western right by the airport which will be nice in the morning when we don't have to get up ridiculously early to catch our flight. Can't wait to be at the beach tomorrow. :)

My latest celebrity crush :)
My latest obsession is a very cute violinist by the name of David Garrett. :) The whole thing started over the weekend when I watched a recorded episode of a German game show (Wetten Dass) and he was on it as a guest. After seeing that I looked him up online and developed a slight obsession. :) Got tickets to see him live in Concord, NH at the end of March. Yay. :)
Other than that not all that much new really. Work has been busy, trying to get everything done before we leave for Puerto Rico at the end of the week. Lots to organize and figure out. Definitely can't wait for the warm weather, ocean and tropical drinks.
My Australian friend Nicki is arriving in NY today so hopefully we can get together with her and he fiance Damien before we leave for Puerto Rico on Sunday. Will probably spend Saturday in NYC. Will be a nice early start to our vacation. :)
