Botanical Gardens & Austrian food
And the weird weather continues. During the beginning of this week we had frost warnings and temps as low as 32F (0C). This weekend it's supposed to be in the 80'ies (29C). I am not complaining about the nice weather for the weekend but it just seems like we are constantly going back and forth between cold and warm weather.Planning to go to the Botanical Gardens in the Bronx tomorrow and then dinner at Cafe Steinhof in Brooklyn afterward. Will mean that we will spend a lot of time on the train but it will be fun. A good day to be outside and explore the gardens. We have been to the ones in Brooklyn but not the ones in the Bronx yet. And Austrian food at Cafe Steinhof is of course always delicious. :)
No plans for Sunday. Will probably just relax and stay home like we did last Sunday. Lucked out with the weather last weekend, nice weather for the baseball game on Saturday and rain/cool on Sunday. It's supposed to be pretty nice on Sunday this weekend too but cloudy instead of sunny.
Short mail update for today. A letter went out on Monday to: Alex/Germany and Lotte/Denmark. Received letters from/still owe replies to: Jetta/Finland, Jessica/DE, Carmen/Malta, Caroline/Scotland and Nina/WA.Posted by Hanna at 04:47 PM | Permalink | Comments (1) | TrackBack

Let's play ball
It's Friday - thank god. Another week that kind of dragged. I think I am in need of another vacation *g*. I shouldn't complain too much because we have another trip coming up in three weeks. Back to Atlanta to visit with our friend Tommy again and also to see a baseball game (NY Mets vs Atlanta Braves)
Speaking of baseball we are also going to a game tomorrow, Saturday, in NYC. And are actually seeing the same teams. Mets are playing the Braves right now in NY. Will be nice to go to a game, haven't done that in a while. Plus the weather is supposed to be pretty nice too. Let's hope that all works out. After the game we are going to have dinner at Chevy's (Mexican).
No plans for Sunday. It's supposed to rain so a good stay at home and do nothing (just catch up on some chores around the house etc) day.
The visit to the wild life experience was fun last weekend. Was really neat to see the wolfs, bobcats and foxes. First time I ever heard a wolf howl. Very cool. We had a good time and afterwards went into NYC to have lunch, then back home to catch up on some shows.
Short mail update for today. A letter went out on Monday to: Jessica/DE and Celia/MA. Also a letter went out on Wed to Emilia/Finland. Received letters from/still owe replies to: Lotte/Denmark, Alex/Germany and Jetta/Finland.

Week Update
It's cold again right in time for the weekend. No plans for tomorrow but Sunday we are heading to New Jersey to a wildlife preserve for a wolf watch experience, a gift I got for Mike a while back. We finally got around to scheduling it and actually going. Definitely looking forward to it.
I am really glad this week is over. It's just been a long week somehow. Let's see what else is new? We booked a 2 night trip to Williamburg, Virginia for June. I have always wanted to go to Colonial Williamsburg. So I am really looking forward to that. They have a good spring getaway package so we were able to book that. I am sure it will be a fun short trip.
Also got tickets for "Austria Uncorked", a wine tasting in NYC, on May 5. I heard about it in an email from the Austrian consulate and thought it sounded really neat so Mike & I and another friend will be heading down there on May 5.
My parents are currently in Spain and staying there for another week. Hopefully this whole volcano ash thing blows over (excuse the pun) by then and they can fly back to Austria without any problems. Vienna closed their airport this afternoon. Not sure when they will reopen yet.
That's all the news here from my end. Finished reading "Into the Wilderness" by Sara Donati and am now waiting for the second book in the series to get returned to the library (hence the Peanuts cartoon *g)
Short mail update for today. No letters have gone out. :( Received letters from/still owe replies to: Lotte/Denmark, Jessica/DE, Celia/MA, Alex/Germany, Emilia/Finland and Jetta/Finland.

Busy week & crazy weather
Definitely some weird weather lately. This past week it was super warm and even got up into the 80ies (26C) but for tonight they are forecasting a frost warning. Go figure.
I enjoyed the nice weather while it lasted even though of course it was way too warm for April. But it was nice while we had it. I was off on Tuesday and was able to go for a walk and enjoy being outside. And last weekend in NYC was really nice as well. Seeing the Tim Burton exhibit and going for a long walk, about 6 miles, and our late lunch at the Tex-Mex restaurant. An all around fun day.
No big plans for tomorrow. Had to work today till about 2pm and going to catch up with some TV shows in a bit. Then tomorrow I will just catch up with some emails, read a little bit and enjoy being lazy. It's been a crazy week at work. Just a lot going on at the moment, meetings with upper managment, trying to figure out things, staring at spreadsheets and numbers and coming up with hopefully creative solutions in the end. I am glad I have the day off tomorrow to just take a break from it all, even if it's just one day.
Short mail update for today. No letters have gone out. A letter went out on Monday to: Eunice/Malta. Received letters from/still owe replies to: Jessica/DE, Celia/MA, Alex/Germany, Emilia/Finland and Jetta/Finland.

Happy Easter
Another week gone by and it's already April and Easter weekend. Time is really flying but then again it feels like I always say that. We aren't really doing anything special for Easter. Worked today till 2pm and then went out for lunch since it was such a nice day. We were able to sit outside on the patio, definitely a treat for the very beginning of April. Some of the trees are starting to get leaves and some are already blooming. Seems like spring is on the way.
This weekend is definitely very nice weather wise again. Around 70C (20C). Feels like a roller coaster lately. The weekend before last we were in New York walking around in short sleeves, then last weekend I was wearing boots and my winter jacket and this weekend it's short sleeve weather again.
Planning to go into New York again tomorrow to see the Tim Burton exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art.(they also have a Monet exhibit which looks neat -- I am not sure why it's at the Museum of Modern art, but that's ok, I like Monet so I don't really care about the why too much) And after that we will have a late lunch/early dinner at a Mexican restaurant. Should be a really nice day again so we figured it would be good to take advantage of it and get out.
The nice weather is supposed to last into the middle of next week I think and then it will cool down again. Definitely not normal weather for this time of the year but hey I will take it. :)
