Heat Wave Weekend - Roe vs. Wade - what is happening???
Yes here we are again, Sunday evening. I am so not ready for another week. Ugh. Just need to make it through next week and then the week after will be the holiday week and since the 4th of July falls on a Monday this year we will have a short work week that week so that's something.
Nothing really to report for this week. Work was super busy as usual. Well, there is the whole Roe vs. Wade being overturned debacle of course. That's a whole mess all in itself and I don't even have words. I really don't even know what to say and don't know what is happening with this country. It's crazy.
Not too much else to report really. This weekend was fine but way too hot, in the 90ies (F). So we didn't really do anything. Saturday we had lunch at Rizzuto's and met up with our friend John there. Hung out for a while and finished up at Edison in Bethel. And eventually went home and watched "The Man from Toronto" on Netflix. Wasn't the best movie ever but oh well.
Today we slept in and had brunch at Marketplace in Brookfield. And now we are at Centrico and going to start the new season of "Umbrella Academy" . Finished up the current episodes of "Stranger Things" last weekend. There is just so much to watch. We still need to watch the last season of "Dickensen" and also the new season of "Upload", "The Flight Attendant", "Ted Lasso" and more.
Next week will be another busy week at work I am sure. One day at a time. :)

Random Stuff
Yup you guessed it. It's Sunday evening again. Why, oh why? The weekend was nice though. No complaints.
Yesterday, Saturday, we went to Rizzutos for lunch. And had a nice relaxed evening at home. Also watched another episode of Stranger Things. Two more to go from this latest batch which we will finish tonight.
Today, Sunday, we went for a walk at Tarrywile (local park) to get some fresh air and exercise. Weather was nice, a bit cool and windy, but sunny and overall pleasant. Then we headed to Flipside in Fairfield for lunch.
So really nothing all that much new to report. Was another busy week at work but that's pretty much going to continue until at least the fall I imagine.
This upcoming week is the first day of summer I think. Summer Solstice. Crazy to think we are already almost halfway through the year. Seriously, where does all of the time go??
I have a week of vacation time in mid July but not really sure what I will do with it yet. There is the possibility I may go visit a friend in the UK but it all depends on schedules lining up. Otherwise I may come up with something in the US. Guess we will see how it turns out.

Mark Twain House and more
Hello Sunday! Why is it already Sunday evening again? Really don't know where the time goes anymore these days :)
Had a nice weekend though. Yesterday, Saturday, I had an appointment for a facial at Massage Envy so that was a nice relaxing way to start the day. Then we had lunch at Rizzuto's and later in the evening I made a delicious crispy skin salmon and zucchini, sweet pepper, garlic orzo dish.
And today we went to Hartford to tour the Mark Twain house. It's one of those things we have been talking about and meaning to do for ages but just never got to. So it was fun to finally get to go there and see the house and learn more about his history and family and the house. Such a neat home too.
Afterwards we had lunch at Red Rooster in Newtown and now hanging out at Centrico for a bit before heading home. I think we are going to start "Stranger Things" when we get home. I know, I know, a lot of people already binged through it so no spoilers please. :)
But other than that it's just been the same old. Mindy has been hanging in there and doing ok. She has been eating and drinking and while she has definitely lost weight she has been alert and affectionate. So we just operate day by day.

Memorial Day Weekend, Mindy and other stuff
So behind on life and my posting. I always tell myself I will do better and keep up with my posting and updating but then it doesn't happen of course.
Let's see what's new? Struggling a bit with our cat Mindy. Back towards the end of March she was not feeling well and we had brought her to the vet and they had diagnosed her with severe anemia. There really isn't anything that can be done for that and the underlying cause can be a lot of things, none of them pleasant or fixable. At the time they gave her a steroid shot in hopes of making her feel better and it actually worked very well for about 6 weeks. But about a week and a half ago she started to act weird again, wasn't eating right and so on. So we brought her back to the vet and they gave her another steroid shot. This one didn't really kick in quite as well as the last one and I was getting pretty worried. She has made some improvements since then and at least seems comfortable/not in pain and is eating some/drinking water. She has definitely lost quite a bit of weight and unfortunately it's probably just a waiting game but for now she seems comfortable so we are keeping an eye on her and hoping we get to keep her around for a while longer.
In more upbeat news we did have a nice weekend away over Memorial Day weekend. I was quite worried going away with Mindy being sick but luckily she was fine throughout the weekend.
We left Saturday morning and had a lunch reservation at 12.30pm at Dano's Heuriger on Seneca Lake. Delicious food as always. The drive up was pretty rainy on + off but as we got there the rain stopped and during lunch the clouds started to clear. So once we were done at Dano's we headed to Boundary Breaks and hung out there for a while. Weather was nice enough to be able to sit outside and since they have a pretty outdoors area facing the lake it was a great afternoon. From there we headed to our hotel (Holiday Inn) in Auburn and had a snack and a few more drinks at the hotel bar before calling it a night.
Sunday we stopped at Starbucks and then made our way over to Keuka Lake. Our first stop was Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery where they had some great wines (including Gruener Veltliner). Sat outside for a while as we enjoyed a wine flight. After that we headed to lunch at the Waterfront restaurant. Such a pretty spot and great food as well. Enjoyed our lakeside lunch. And after lunch we checked out a few more wineries. First one was Bully Hill Vineyard which had decent wine but just felt too commercial. But our second stop was Keuka Lake Vineyards and their tasting room was in an old refurbished barn and had a really cool vibe to it. Definitely a cool find. After that we headed back towards Auburn and had dinner at Chilli's. We are not usually big into chains but there really wasn't anything else of interest.
Then Monday we checked out from the hotel and had breakfast at a diner in Auburn. And from there headed to Anyela's Vineyard at Skaneateles Lake where we hung out for a while. We had been there before and definitely a really pretty place. Enjoyed our wine and really didn't want to leave but of course all good things do have to come to an end.
And well since then a whole other week has gone by and of course work has been super busy. This past weekend was pretty relaxed. Saturday we went for a nice walk at Sherwood Island State Park by the beach and then had lunch at Rizzuto's. And on Sunday we went to see the new Top Gun movie and then had brunch at Lucas Local. And later I met up with my friend Jana and we went to see the Downton Abbey movie. Both movies were great but of course very different. :)
