Time flies
And it's Sunday again somehow and I have already been here for over 2 weeks. My flight back to the US is on Wednesday so just 3 days away, How do 3 weeks fly by so fast? It's mind boggling somehow.
So let's see, last week I worked on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday my mom, aunt and our neighbors went for a nice lunch to a local vineyard/Heurigen. And on Thursday I went into Vienna in the afternoon and met up with my friend Lydia. Had a great day. We started with lunch at a Vietnamese restaurant in downtown Vienna and then walked around for a bit and had some Aperol spritzers in a great setting, the weather worked out perfectly that day so we were able to sit outside. Then finished at a cafe with some toast and white wine spritzers. Definitely a great afternoon.
Friday the weather was cool and miserable again but since I had to work anyway it wasn't a huge issue.
Saturday we didn't really have any plans but somehow the day flew by quickly anyway. We went for a walk, ordered in lunch and later in the day went into St. Poelten for some shopping and another walk.
And today, Sunday, I took the train to Salzburg and met up with my family/cousins there. Was a fun day with great lunch and some nice time spent with family. And Salzburg is always a fun visit and such a great city.
Tomorrow is Monday and another work day for me. Then Tuesday I have off and need to get some last minute things done such as packing and getting a Covid test (required for entry into the US) And then Wednesday morning I am off to Dublin and on to New York.
Still not sure how three weeks can go by that fast but I guess it is what it is. And definitely had some quality time with my mom, friends and family. Probably will come back in the fall again so no all that long really.

Easter Week
Happy Easter! Easter Sunday today and honestly we didn't really do very much which was fine. A quiet, relaxed
Sunday. Can't believe I have already been in Austria for 10 days 10 more to go. No idea how time flies that fast but it's just the way it goes.
This past week I worked on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday so my work days are a bit of a blur anyway. I try to keep my normal routine with my mom in the morning, breakfast and then a walk around the neighborhood, then lunch and then I start my work from around 2pm to 10pm to be available EST hours.
On Wednesday we were invited over to our neighbor Helga's place for a lunch/spread with various cold cuts/smoked meats/cheeses and dessert. Spent most of the afternoon over there and had a good day.
On Friday we met up with Andi and had lunch at the Boothaus which was really delicious. And on Saturday I went into Vienna to meet up with my friends Claudia and Andrea. Went for brunch at "Freiraum" on Mariahilferstrasse with Claudia and then for a nice stroll afterwards. Met up with Andrea in front of the opera in afternoon and we also went for a walk and spent some time catching up at a cafe. Definitely a nice day and got my steps in. :)
The weather has been very up and down. In the middle of the week it was pretty warm. On Wednesday we were able to sit outside for our lunch but then it cooled down quite a bit again and was much more unstable. Oh well.
Next week looks to be a mixed bag weather wise too. I will be working Monday, Tuesday and Friday next week. Wednesday I think we may plan an outing and Thursday I am heading back into Vienna to see my friend Lydia. And then next Sunday, a week from today, I am going to take the train to Salzburg. So lots to come still.

Austria Musings
Hello from Austria. :) I have already been here since Thursday and today is Sunday, time is definitely already flying
but isn't that always the way?
It was hectic getting ready to leave but again that's also nothing super new. Worked 1/2 a day on Wednesday and then had my flight out of JFK a bit after 5pm on Wednesday. Flew with AerLingus via Dublin this time and all in all everything went smoothly and with no issues so no complaints really. Arrived in Vienna Thursday morning around 10am, caught the train to St. Poelten where my aunt met me at the train station and we were at my mom's house before noon.
Had Friday through today, Sunday, off and had some relaxed days for the most part. Friday I had my hair appointment and spent a good amount of time at the hairdresser's. On Saturday the weather turned quite a bit cooler and more unstable with rain and wind. Still went for some walks with my mom and we also watched a sappy movie in the afternoon and ordered pizza and Italian food for delivery. And really more of the same today. Went for some walks, stopped in at a close family friend's house for a chat, ate, watched a movie etc. Also managed to catch up a little with work today so hopefully tomorrow won't be quite as crazy but I guess we'll see about that. Mondays always tend to be nuts no matter what.
But yeah, last few days have been mostly low key which has been fine. Next week I will work Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. On Wednesday we have an appointment at the bank in the morning and I think we are also invited over to our neighbor's place for lunch/dinner. No real plans for Friday yet. Next weekend on Saturday I am meeting up with 2 friends in Vienna and nothing set in stone for Sunday (which is Easter Sunday) yet.
The weather is supposed to get better and warmer over the next few days so we'll see if that turns out to be true. So far it's been very April weather since I have been here switching between nice and sunny, cold, rainy and windy in a matter of minutes over and over.

Grammys, Mindy & getting ready
Happy April. Even though it's April now and I think should have more of a spring feel today was kind of cold, dreary and rainy. A wet, cold day. Oh well. The weather in Austria in March has been unseasonably warm a lot of days but of course now that it's getting closer to me getting there it's cooled down quite a bit. Oh well. I will be there for 3 weeks so there is always the possibility of change in the weather. Which actually is making it a bit difficult to pack and I am trying to pack relatively light (to keep some room for goodies to bring back) but also be prepared for all the different possibilities in the weather. Short sleeve, long sleeve, sweaters, t-shirts, all of that.
I leave on Wednesday so just 2 1/2 days away really. Trying to get ready, pre-packed a few things today and also tried to catch up on some work stuff but yeah nowhere near ready to leave just yet. I will be working about half of the time while I am there but there's still a good amount of prep work to be done.
Tonight are the Grammy's. Let's hope they go more smoothly than the Oscars last week with the whole Chris Rock Will Smith fiasco.
In happy news our cat Mindy seems to be doing better. I hesitate to say that she's back to her old self because I don't think we are quite there yet but she definitely seems to be better, eating, drinking, washing herself, playing and paying more attention to her surroundings. I am hoping that the steroid shot she received will last for a while and maybe just maybe even a long while. So we will see how it goes but for now she's at least acting more normal and content so that's good for sure.
