Almost Thanksgiving
Yup you guessed it, it's Monday again. Not feeling the idea of facing a Monday. But I guess the good thing is that it's only a three day week. Thursday is Thanksgiving and with my corporate job I get Friday off too. At my old job at Marcus this was not the case and I often worked Friday and Saturday over the Thanksgiving weekend. This time around I really can't complain as we will be on a plane on Thanksgiving Day. Off to Austria. We will be there for 3 days and then Croatia for 7 days. So we'll be gone for the Thanksgiving weekend plus the following week. Definitely looking forward to a bit of a break.
This past weekend was quiet. Saturday I had a doctor's appointment in the morning. Then later we headed down to Westport for lunch and in the evening I put up the tree at home and finished my Christmas cards. I know it's not Thanksgiving yet and I usually don't put up the tree beforehand but with us being away I figured it would make sense to put up the tree so it's up when we get back on December 8th. And of course my cards needed to be done too. I still have a few more to write and I also have to still put together the gift packages for the domestic folks after we get back. For the international ones I will order via Amazon again. Just seems to be a lot easier these days.
On Sunday we went to the movies and saw "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood", the Mr. Rogers movie starring Tom Hanks. I liked the movie even though I didn't grow up watching Mr. Rogers and don't really have a lot of the cultural references a lot of Americans do. But it was a good movie nonetheless. Afterwards we headed to 121 in Oxford for lunch and then later caught up on some more TV at home and also watched the American Music Awards.
And well here we are. And it's Monday. At least it's not as miserable as yesterday. Yesterday it poured all day and was just really dreary all day. Oh and I still don't have my replacement phone. Supposed to get a new phone from Samsung through warranty but of course nothing is ever as simple as you would hope. It would be nice to receive it before we leave for Europe but I guess we'll see what happens.

Low key weekend and phone troubles continued
Another weekend gone by and it's Monday again. High of 40F (4C) and rain today so it's going to be chilly & wet. The weekend wasn't much better. Saturday it was sunny but windy and really chilly. Yesterday was overcast and a little warmer but still felt chilly. It's too early for these temps. Really not feeling it but what can you do? I guess we are in for a long winter this year (and it's not even officially winter yet)
Still dealing with my phone issues. We went to the mall last Monday and were relatively confident that it was the battery that was the problem. Well went back to the mall on Tuesday and nope turns out the whole phone is fried, motherboard and all. I am guessing it must have been defective from the start because I only got it back in March or April (the S10 was only released in March I think) Anyway Mike spent 2 1/2 hours on the phone with Sprint support and eventually got someone to agree that we can swap out the phone through Samsung warranty. They said the new phone would come in 3-5 days so hopefully some time this week. Would be nice to have my new phone before we leave for Europe next week. I do have a phone now but it's Mike's old phone and quite a few generations old now. The camera is definitely better on my S10 and the battery life too (well, when it's working properly anyway)
Let's see what else? Friday I went out with some friends from work. Went to the Irish club for karaoke. No, I did not sing. Definitely not my thing. But it's entertaining enough watching other people do it. Didn't get home till after 1am. Definitely not my usual stuff but it was a fun night out. Saturday we slept in and then had lunch in Woodbury at the Marketplace. And yesterday, Sunday, we went to the movies to see "Ford vs. Ferrari". I had been looking forward to the movie even though I am not a big car or racing fan generally speaking. The cast is great and of course there's Caitrona (Claire from Outlander) and she did a great job as well.
So now it's Monday again. Let's see what this week brings. Wednesday I have my eye doctor appointment. Fall/winter always seems to be full of appointments for me. Had my physical last week and some other appointments coming up as well. Don't know why but it just seems to work out that way.

Phone Troubles
Ok it's Tuesday and yeah I missed updating yesterday. Reason behind that is that I have been dealing with a broken phone. Had a good weekend and Sunday night we caught up on TV as usual. While watching TV my phone was just sitting on the coffee table. When we started watching it was at 40% for the battery. At one point later in the night I picked it up and it was at 1% and eventually died. I wasn't too worried about it at the time as I didn't really need it while we were watching TV. The battery life has been somewhat annoying on it as of late but not too awful either. It's not a super old phone either (Samsung S10) Anyway, when we were going to bed I plugged the phone in, figuring it would start charging and I could charge it overnight and all would be fine. But yeah, no such luck.
Mike and I tried a few things, hard resets and whatnot but no luck. Monday morning I had a dr apt for my annual physical and then went into work after. It was very weird not having a working phone on me throughout the day. It's weird how we get so used to these things. Anyway after work we went to the mall to a place called Mobile Rescue. Originally I had figured we would go to a Sprint store but apparently all the stores in our town only do sales and no repair. The closest Sprint store for repairs is in Newburgh, NY which is about 40+ miles away. Anyway, the store in the mall assumes it is the battery but they didn't have a battery in stock. So they are ordering a new one and hopefully that fixes the problem. It could be some other issue but I am guessing it's the battery as well. They did say it could also be the charging port but I tried wireless charging and no results there either. It's just dead.
So yeah, anyway, now it's Tuesday, another work day ahead. I am tired, didn't sleep that well yesterday again. Ugh. We will need to go back to the mall tonight and wait for 20-30 min. while they switch out the battery. Kind of annoying but it is what it is of course. The weekend was nice at least. Pretty low key. Saturday we went to the movies and saw "Jojo Rabbit". From the trailers I was not sure what to make of it but it was really well done and a great movie. I would definitely recommend it. And Sunday we just went for brunch at J. Lawrence and then caught up on recorded TV.

Daylight Savings Weekend
And it's Monday again. The US switched to Daylight Savings Time this weekend so we got our extra hour of sleep. Was definitely needed after coming back from California. It felt like a very long week. Especially last Monday when we headed straight to work from the airport (and only less than 2 hours of sleep on the plane) But even though I appreciate the extra hour of sleep with Daylight Savings the whole thing still aggravates me every time. It messes with your inner clock and schedule. I do like that (at least briefly) it's a little lighter again in the morning but of course tonight by the time I leave work it will be pitch black dark. It's always such an abrupt change. Ugh.
So yeah, managed to get through the week even though the jetlag (or maybe just the fact of not sleeping much Sunday into Monday) affected me quite a bit this time around. But oh well, a new week ahead. We have a new person starting at work who I will be mentoring. I think that's the 5th person I am mentoring. Well I am coming up on 3 years at my current job (Nov 7) Crazy how time flies. So it will be a busy week ahead.
The weekend was nice and relaxed. It was pretty cool/cold but sunny all weekend. This morning it was only 28F (-2C) when I woke up. The high is going to be 53F (11C) The 10 day forecast shows snow showers and frigid temps. Ugh. I guess we have officially entered that season now with crossing into November. Not really looking forward to another long winter. Really not my favorite time of the year but what can you do?
So yeah, the weekend was quiet. Saturday we went to the movies and saw the new Maleficent movie and then had lunch in Oxford at 121. On Sunday we just slept in and then had lunch in Westport. And afterwards met up with our friends John and Jana for a bit before heading home to catch up on more recorded TV.
