NYC & Memorial Day Weekend
Happy Memorial Day to everyone here in the US. :) I am off from work today and had a nice 3-day weekend. Can't complain. :) It's nice to actually have the holidays off at my new job. But being involved in an international company & industry we are still never a 100% off of course. I have people in other parts of the world who don't have Memorial Day off and where it's business as usual so there is a lot of prep work to be done and a close eye to be kept upon things. But it's still nice to have an extended weekend of course. :)
Saturday we went down to NYC and spent the day in the city. Had lunch and saw "Waitress" on Broadway. Great musical and it was fun to see Sara Bareilles in it. Afterwards we stopped and had a light dinner and some drinks before taking the train back to CT. Definitely a fun day out.
Yesterday, Sunday, we took advantage of the fact that the weather was semi decent (pretty humid but not raining at least) and went for a 2 3/4 mile walk. We had explored the same trail earlier in the season when the trees were still bare. What a difference a few weeks can make. So green and lush now. Was nice to be outside for a while.
Today it's been raining on and off pretty much all day. So we have been taking it easy. Slept in and are now at the Red Rooster pub for lunch. Going to stop at the grocery store for a few things on our way home and then catch up on some TiVo. Should be a relaxing night. We will see what tomorrow brings at work. At least it will be a 4 day work week so that's something. :)
Well, that's all the news here from my end. Hope everyone in the US had a nice Memorial Day weekend.

Fun with friends in NYC, a bridal shower and more
And already Sunday night again. I know I say that pretty much every week but I really never know how the week flies by so fast. And the weekend seems to be gone before I know it - pretty much every single week.
Well, let's recap last week. Monday I took the day off from work and went down to NYC to meet up with my friends Lena & Joseph. It was great seeing them after such a long time. Had a great day in NYC. Enjoyed a lovely brunch/lunch and walked a lot. Definitely got my exercise but you really don't notice in NYC. There is so much to see and look at plus if you are talking while walking you really don't realize how much you have walked. Fun day and the weather cooperated as well.
The middle of the week was super hot so all in all we lucked out with the weather. This weekend it's quite a bit cooler again. Some rain on the horizon for this coming week. Guess it doesn't matter too much if I am in the office anyway.
Yesterday, Saturday, I went to my friend Megan's bridal shower. We used to work together at my old job but have kept in touch. Don't see each other that often but it's always nice to catch up. Her wedding is in July in Mystic, CT. Always fun to spend some time in that area so definitely looking forward to that.
I can't remember but I feel like I never mentioned meeting up with my friend/pen pal Mary a few weeks back. We met up the Thursday before I saw Lena & Joseph. First time I had met her face to face but we have known each other since around 2002. Used to pen pal back then when she lived in Alaska. Since then she has moved to WA state but was visiting friends and family on the East Coast. Was nice to meet up and hopefully we will get to do it again some time soon.
Work is still busy. I think it's pretty much going to be like that until after the summer. Just need to hold on and do my best. :) Mike's figuring out things at his new job as well. Any new job can be a bit daunting and stressful but just need to be patient and hang in there. RIght?

Eurovision, Mother's Day and more
And somehow it's Monday already again. How does that always happen so fast? Time is really just flying it feels like. Well the good news is that I am off from work today. Took the day off to meet up with my friend Lena and her husband Joseph who are here visiting from Australia. I will write more about that in a separate post. For now lets' try and recap last week. :)
Well let's see. I guess it was another busy week. I am trying to catch up with work and all the craziness. It's not easy as summer is our busy season and I am just getting used to everything. So it's a work in progress so to speak. But that's ok. I do enjoy the job even though it is driving me nuts at certain times. I guess that's normal though with any job right?
Mike made it through his first week at his new job and like with any new job it can be a bit overwhelming. So that's a work in progress of sorts as well. He is taking over for someone who is leaving and the person he is taking over for was only able to provide one week of training. Guess he will figure things out and ultimately it will all work out. I know he can do it. I do understand that it's going to be a bit stressful and busy in the meantime though. Guess we have a busy summer ahead the two of us. :)
Last weekend we slept in both days and took it easy mostly. Saturday I watched the Eurovision Song Contest online which was pretty entertaining. It's one of those things where you have to have grown up with it to fully understand the madness behind it. haha. It was fun to watch. Not sure if Portugal's song was really my favorite song but then it really isn't about the songs most of the time is it?
Sunday was Mother's Day (love you mom) and we took it easy again. Just went for lunch and then to the grocery store to stock on some items. Then caught up on a bunch of our TiVo shows. Nice and relaxing night. And now it's Monday morning again. Looking forward to a day in the city. Let's see what the weather brings. Right now it's still a bit cool and wet out there but I think the sun is supposed to come out. We will see how it goes.

Cinco de Mayo, work stuff & Lularoe
Well let's start with the best news. Mike has a new job. :) He starts tomorrow, Monday. I haven't written too much on here about it but basically he was laid off from the same company as me (we worked together for the last 14ish years) last summer. Since then he's done stuff on and off here and there and has explored some opportunities. But nothing had quite come through until this latest opportunity.
He is going to be working for a real estate management company doing a little bit of everything. It's super close to home (5 min drive) and he also works with 2 other people from our former company who also have jobs there now. So it sounds like a win-win. Fingers crossed. :)
For me work is still busy. Pretty much going to be like this for the summer. Just trying to buckle in and go along for the ride. Let's see if I can survive my first summer in relocation. :)
Today I am meeting up with some people from work. There is a Lularoe and Arbonne party. I am not in the loop with all the cool kids stuff so I am not quite sure what to expect but that's ok. There will be food and wine so hey it's all good. :)
For Cinco de Mayo we were at Rizzuto's which yes is an Italian restaurant but they have delicious themed specials usually and didn't disappoint this year either. Yum.

Converse Outlet + Work
And now it's Tuesday at 9pm. I am alive I promise. It's just been really crazy at work.
To make a long story relatively short last week on Thursday we were told that one of our team members was no longer employed by the company. The full impact of that didn't really hit me until a little later in the day. All the active files were transitioned to other employees. I received a good amount of them as well. Still being new it takes me a little longer than a more seasoned employee to do everything. And the "fun" part about transition files can be that you never quite know what you are going to get since you weren't the one who initiated everything.
We didn't do a lot over the weekend. Saturday Mike had a job interview in the morning so I checked on some of my files and dealt with some backed up work to try and catch up. Then we went to lunch at 121 in Oxford afterwards.
On Sunday we went to the Woodbury Commons Outlets. I had wanted to buy some new Converse and they have an outlet store there. Not usually a big outlet person but I do love Converse. Had lunch at Hurricane's Bar&Grill in Newburgh after.
Now it's Tuesday night and I am not even sure how we got here. We also had a problem with our systems going down (power outage in our main office) so that didn't help. Also covering for someone out so yeah none of that has helped with catching up.
Well, let's see what the rest of the week brings.
Letter/Mail Update:All caught up on my mail at the moment. :)
