Memorial Day Weekend
Happy Memorial Day weekend to everyone here in the US. :) It's a long 3 day weekend for most people and the unofficial start of summer, the season of picnics and BBQs, pools and bonfires.
I was actually working Saturday and also tomorrow, Monday, Memorial Day, but I can't complain too much considering I am leaving for Europe on Tuesday night. :)
The week was busy at work but again that's expected with the holiday. It's also been really hot which has been a shock to my system cause just a week earlier it was way cool for mid May. Crazy weather.
Saturday after work we went for a late lunch in Oxford at 121. And later in the evening I attempted to get most of my packing done. I still have to get my carry on completed and figure out exactly what I am packing where but I am halfway there.
Today we went to see "The Nice Guys" at the movies and then went for a late lunch at SBC in Milford. Now going to stop at Rizzuto's for a glass of wine on our way home.
Mail Update: Received letters from/owe replies to: Nina/WA and Lotte/Denmark.

NYC - Punk & Rock Walking Tour
Another busy week but we were lucky to have both Saturday and Sunday off which was nice. Somehow it's already late Sunday afternoon again though. Where does all the time go?
Work was busy as expected. Plenty of changes at work and things that need to be dealt with. Nothing bad per se. Just a lot of new procedures and things to get used to. All the changes make sense, just a matter of implementing everything.
I had my dentist appointment on Monday night but the infection and swelling was still too much so they couldn't finish the root canal. I have been taking my antibiotics and have another appointment scheduled this coming week on Thursday. So hopefully they can finish the root canal then. Ugh. I leave for Europe on May 31st so there is not a lot of time left to get this teeth stuff straightened out. Ugh.
Saturday we took the train into NYC. For Mike's birthday I got him a walking tour called the "East Village Rock n Punk Tour". We waited for the weather to be nicer and booked it for this Saturday. Had fun wandering though the East Village and Alphabet City for 2 hours. Pretty cool. Afterwards we had a yummy lunch in the West Village at Burger & Barrel. Yum! Had the best croissant sandwich, open faced with black forest ham, gruyere cheese, dijon and topped with a sunny side egg. Delicious.
Today, Sunday, we just slept in late, which was really nice. Dropped off the laundry and ran a few other errands before going for a leisurely lunch at 121 in Oxford. Enjoying a lovely French rose from the Provence right now before we had back home to catch up on some shows.
Mail Update: All caught up with my mail for now. :)

Work, Movies, Dentist
So here we are. Another Sunday and a week later. Was a busy week at work following the merger of the companies. Still a lot of things up in the air on big picture things. Just trying to work on a day to day basis right now, figuring out how to keep certain things separate and merge others. Just a lot to work out.
So that's been number one this past week, just figuring out how to make everything work. It will all be ok in the long run. It's just a matter of getting there that's the trick. :)
In light of all of that I cancelled my wisdom tooth surgery because I didn't want to take of the time from work. But of course my teeth decided that they didn't want to cooperate. I started to develop pain and sensitivity in my front teeth so I had to make an appointment for last Friday anyway.
And of course the news wasn't fun. Really, when is it ever when you are talking about things to do with the dentist? I have to get a root canal. So I have a 2 hour appointment tomorrow night at 6pm. Then I am going to haveto make another shorter appointment after that. Ugh.
In more fun news went to the movies today to see "Money Monster" (George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Caitriona Balfe who stars in the Starz show Outlander I love) Really enjoyed the movie.
Let's see what next week brings at work. One day at a time. Right?

Mother's Day, Work and stuff
Happy Mother's Day to all my friends who are moms and of course my own lovely mom. Talked to her on the phone today. I will see her in less than a month when I get to Europe on June 1st.
Leaving here the Tuesday after Memorial Day and getting to Croatia June 1st. My parents will pick me up from Split airport. They will already be there as they are leaving earlier to drive there.
So much to do and take care of before then though. Quite a lot has been going on at work. The company both Mike and I work has been going through financial struggles for quite a while and it eventually ended in them being taken over by another company. All in all this is not the worst of news as we still have jobs. Could actually be good in the long run. This starts tomorrow so as of tomorrow we will be employed by a new company. Our salary stays the same. And the old company is paying out our accrued vacation and sick time which is quite a substantial amount considering we both have worked there 14+ years. Everything else will need to be figured out on a day to day basis. But all's well for now.
So that's all the news for now. The weather has been super dreary and rainy for a good week and a half. It seems to finally be clearing up. Will be nice to see the sun again.

Walkway over the Hudson, Broadway and more
And already Sunday afternoon again. Can't complain. Had/having a very relaxed weekend. Didn't have to work Saturday which was nice.
Saturday the weather was pretty nice as well so we took advantage of that and spent some time outdoors, on the Walkway over the Hudson. Always enjoy spending time there and when the cooperates it's extra nice. Walked across and back again and then had a leisurely lunch at the Millhouse Brewpub. Yum.
Hung out at Two Steps with some friends and later watched "Special Correspondents" (Ricky Gervais, Eric Bana) on Netflix. Really neat and funny movie. So all in all a fun day.
Got to sleep in again this morning. Managed to write two letters while having some tea before we headed out for lunch. Now at 121 in Oxford having some yummy food and wine, relaxing, before we are heading back home to catch up on some recorded TiVo shows and movies. Should be a nice relaxed rest of our Sunday.
In other fun news just splurged on some Broadway tickets for my birthday which is Oct 24. The tickets are for Sunday 3pm, Oct 23. I love Broadway and it's been ages since we have been to a show. These seats are really great too, pretty much right in the middle of the action. If you want to check it out go take a look here. Really can't wait. Should be worth the price for an unique and different experience (you can check out the seating when you click on "Tickets") We have two of the blue dots, the swiveling arm chairs. :)
Well that's all for today. Going to spend the rest of this rainy day drinking some more tea and wine and catching up on shows. And tomorrow it's already Monday again.
Mail Update: Mailing letters tomorrow to Charles/TN and Celia/MA.
