Happy Memorial Day
And it's already Memorial Day weekend. Worked Saturday but had yesterday and today off. Well today I monitored some things from home for a bit but nothing too major. Last week was absolutely crazy at work. Partly because of the upcoming holiday which always causes issues, trying to explain the schedule, remind people to take extra if they are closed, find alternate solutions for people, etc etc. On top of that we also had a big issue with our internet in one of our satelite offices. We switched to a new internet provider to get a faster connection speed but of course nothing ever works properly when it is first installed. Mike spent almost two entire days in that office just to have to put it all back to its old settings. Will try again next week when they bring us new equipment since they now think it might be their equipment. Go Comcast!
Next up is Charleston, South Carolina. Leaving on Friday and can't wait. :) It's just a 4 night trip, Friday to Tuesday, but it will be nice to be away for a few days. Planning a day trip to Savannah, Georgia as well and might go and tour the Firefly Vodka distillery. Also want to go to Boone Hall Plantation and Magnolia Plantation. Should all be fun.

Yard Work
Another week gone by. Almost June now. This year is truly flying by. This past week it was so rainy. Today it didn't rain but was overcast pretty much all day. I decided it would be a good day to go out into the backyard and pull up a bunch of the weeds. Ever since everything started growing again a few weeks ago it's amazing how fast everything is getting covered again. In the fall last year we made some progress but it's almost like nature wants to take back over. LOL. When I was done with that I spent some time answering emails and now we ordered pizza. Going to catch up on some more of our recorded TV shows while we eat. And tomorrow it's already back to work. I have a feeling this coming week will be pretty busy since it's the week before Memorial Day. But I just have to keep thinking about Charleston which is coming up at the end of the week after next week. So not so long to go now. :)
Not too much else new really. Just looking forward to our South Carolina trip and my trip to Austria at the end of July isn't all that far away now either. Always nice to have some travel plans in the near future. :)

Rainy Days
After having some nice weather for a little while it's been nothing but rain, rain, rain since Sunday. Cool and rainy. Definitely not very pretty. Mike is happy because his allergies are finally better. It's been terrible for people with allergies this year, guess the long cold snowy winter just made everything come back with even more force. But nonetheless I am still looking forward to some nice weather. Supposed to be off tomorrow but most likely still won't be able to mow the lawn. Everything is drenched and there are 60% showers in the forecast for tomorrow too. Well, maybe the weekend. We will see I guess.
This past weekend on Saturday I went to New Jersey with my friend Jana. She was participating in a ballroom dance competition there. I had been wanting to see her live for a while so I decided to tag along. It was an interesting event. Had plenty of time to watch some other couples dance while Jana was warming up. Definitely a whole nother world, the dance world. :)
Not too much else new. This week at work has been dragging like crazy. Can't believe it's only Wednesday. Definitely looking forward to our weekend in South Carolina. Still about 2 1/2 weeks away but something to look forward to anyway. :)
++ UPDATE ++ I meant to post this yesterday and then never got to it. So a day late but finally here it is. :) Had a nice day off. Relaxed, had lots of tea, wrote some emails and cleaned the stove. I am happy with the results. Looks nice and shiny again. :)

Sunday Plane Ride
And it's Monday again. Had a fun weekend though. Saturday we went into work for a few hours but got out a little after noon. Then went grocery shopping, ran some errands and had a late lunch. In the evening we caught up with some of our recorded shows on TiVo.
Sunday we went to Long Island for Mike's bi-plane ride. The weather cooperated and it turned out to be a really nice sunny day. Had fun taking some pictures with the plane and Mike enjoyed his ride in the open cockpit. Afterwards we toured the little museum and then had lunch at Legal Seafoods. The place was packed due to Mother's Day but we were able to grab a seat at the bar which was mostly empty. So that worked out. Had very yummy food and then drove home. Coming home from Long Island on a Sunday and that Sunday being Mother's Day on top of it, of course made traffic pretty annoying but we made it home eventually.
Now it's Monday and a new week has started. Had some trouble with our phone system at work which made for an annoying start to the week. Didn't have incoming or outgoing calls for a good part of the day. Let's see what tomorrow brings.
Mail Update: A letter went out today to Nina/WA.Still owe a reply to: Sarah/Canada.

Austrian Wine Tasting
So yesterday was the Austrian wine tasting in New York. Just like last year it was a lot of fun. The venue was the same as last year and even though the weather was much nicer last year it was still neat to go outside on the rooftop terrace and enjoy the views.
Lots of tables with wine from different Austrian vineyards paired with a bunch of yummy small plates of food (bread, cheese, small sausages, steak, fish, etc.) Had a lot of fun. Am pretty tired today but it was definitely worth it. Tonight I am going out to dinner with my friend Sharon, then will probably call it an early night after that.
This weekend we are supposed to go out to Long Island on Sunday. A while ago I got Mike a gift to fly in an old vintage biplane (the kind with an open cockpit) and we finally scheduled it for this weekend. Hopefully the weather cooperates.
Well that's all for now. Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone. :)

Happy May
Already May. Time definitely flies. Not all that much new to report. Work is still busy. Had this past weekend off mostly though which was nice. Saturday we went into work for a little bit and then did a couple things at home because of month-end but mostly we slept in, ran some errands, went grocery shopping etc. Then Sunday we slept in too and then took a nice ride to Stamford since the weather was pretty nice. Went to Tigin's Irish pub where we were able to sit outside which was really nice. The weather this week is supposed to be a little more unstable with some rain, showers, etc.
I hope that Wednesday will be somewhat decent since we have the Austrian wine tasting in New York that day. I am looking forward to it. Last year we were super lucky because we had the most amazing weather that day and were able to enjoy the roof top terrace. They are forecasting showers for Wednesday right now. I guess we will see.
In other news we decided that a West Coast trip just wasn't possible at the moment, taking 7-10 days off from work for both of us just didn't seem like an option at work. So instead we decided on a long weekend. Going to Charleston, South Carolina in early June (Fr to Tues). Really looking forward to it. Charleston is such a pretty city.
