Garlic Festival
Back to reality and work. Today is a really gloomy rainy day too which doesn't help I suppose. Worked Thursday, Friday and Saturday last week. Then on Sunday we went to Saugerties, NY to the Garlic Festival. We have been there a few times already and it's always fun. Lots of vendors and different foods to try. This year we were even able to try the garlic ice cream. In previous years the line was always way too long to even think about trying it. I was pleasantly surprised. It mostly tasted like vanilla with a few garlic chucks mixed in that you couldn't really taste. When we were done eating it we could kind of taste it but it still wasn't a bad aftertaste or anything.
After the festival we had a late lunch at the Gilded Otter brewpub in New Paltz which is always a fun place to go to as well. Then when we got home we had some of the delicious focaccia bread I bought at the festival (garlic, rosemary & red onion) with some herb dipping oil for a snack watching some of our recorded shows.
Let's see what this week will bring. Can't believe it will already be October at the end of the week. This year has definitely flown by.
Short mail update for today. Received letters from/still owe replies to: Alex/Germany and Nina/WA.

Niagara Falls and more
Another quick post from Canada. Been having a great time and the weather has cooperated beautifully as well. Day trips to Ottawa, Montreal, Niagara Falls and also a fun three hour cruise though a lake region with a lot of small islands (see the link for the outline of the cruise here) All really pretty. We have tons of photos I will get to post eventually I am sure. Yesterday was Niagara Falls and the weather was great for that as well.
Today we are aleady leaving Canada again. Going to have lunch in Barrie, then stop at the post office and after that head back towards the US. Going to stay in Buffalo, NY for the night, then head home to CT tomorrow. We will check out the Anchor Bar in Buffalo (the place where they originally invented buffalo wings). Yum. :)
Short mail update for today. Letters should go out today (as long as I can turn up stamps) to Lotte/Denmark, Charles/TN, Carmen/Malta and Eunice/Malta. Received letters from/still owe replies to: Alex/Germany.

Hello from Canada
Enjoying our stay in Canada. Went to Calabogie on Wednesday where we met up with my parents. The resort was set right on the lake which was really pretty. Definitely very pretty but also very much out in the middle of nowhere. :) We did a a day trip to Ottawa where we went to the Canadian Museum of Civilization and also a day trip to Montreal which was really nice. The weather for Montreal was absolutely perfect. Brisk blue skies, just a tad breezy.
Today we continued on west to Barrie, ON. The resort here is nice too. Still very outdoors-y but in a little more popuated area. Will do a day trip to Niagara Falls from here, maybe on Monday. Not sure yet what we will do tomorrow. Then on Tuesday afternoon we will leave and cross back over to the US to stay one more night in Buffalo before heading back home to CT.
Going to dinner in Barrie tonight to the Keg Steakhouse. Looking forward to it. Then we will see what we will do tomorrow. .
Short mail update for today. Have written letters but have not mailed them as of yet. So letters will hopefully go out soon to Lotte/Denmark, Charles/TN, Carmen/Malta and Eunice/Malta. Received letters from/still owe replies to: Alex/Germany.

Fall is here
It's not officially fall yet but it's definitely been in the air the last few days. Yesterday it was cool in the morning, then got pretty warm during the day though. Very nice day, blue skies, just a tad breezy. Had to work until 2pm but it was still a nice afternoon. Today it's overcast with some showers and downright chilly. Well compared to the summer weather we have been having. I actually changed and put on a light sweater because the short sleeved shirt was just not enough. Brrr.
I don't mind the change right now though. It's kind of nice being able to drag out the fall clothes, make some tea and curl up on the couch. Maybe I will put my fall decorations out later in the afternoon. I am sure halfway through the season, especially when it gets really cold and dreary I will change my mind. But for now I am content.
Going to our local diner for some breakfast now. French toast .. yummm. Then we will check on some things at work and come back home. Later we are going to have some cheese, crackers, bread + dipping oil and wine and watch the VMA's. Always nice to see the performances.
And on Wednesday we are off to Canada. My parents arrived there on Thursday last week and are staying for about two and a half weeks. We will join them for a week. Going to stay near Ottawa and near Toronto, doing day trips to Ottawa, Montreal, Niagara Falls, etc. Should be fun.
Short mail update for today. No letters have gone out. Received letters from/still owe replies to: Lotte/Denmark, Charles/TN, Carmen/Malta, Eunice/Malta and Alex/Germany.

Three Day Labor Day Weekend
So I actually ended up having a three day weekend which doesn't happen too often. Usually I always end up working at least one day, Saturday or the actual holiday, but somehow it worked out this time that I didn't have to do either.
Of course the weekend flew by super quickly nonetheless. We didn't do a whole lot, just took it easy for the most part. We figured that most places would be crazy crowded this weekend anyway so we just stayed home. Did some things around the house, organized/decluttered some things and relaxed.
On Sunday we worked on the bushes in our front yard. They desperately needed to be cut back. It was a real pain trying to deal with all the vines that would get tangled in everything. But at least it looks pretty nice now. We still have to actually deal with all the brush, vines, etc. we cut down. For now we piled it in a corner. Will have to bundle it up and drag it down to the back corner of the backyard or think of some other solution. But at least it mostly looks good now. Believe me you don't want to see a "before picture." :)
Didn't do much today. Just some more de-cluttering inside the house, catching up with some emails, etc. The kittens have been going crazy all day, running around, getting into everything. I think they enjoy when we are home. So does Oliver of course. He has on my lap for a few hours each day purring away.
Short mail update for today. A letter is going out tomorrow to: Celia/MA. Received letters from/still owe replies to: Lotte/Denmark, Charles/TN, Carmen/Malta, Eunice/Malta and Alex/Germany.
