Project Sunday
Worked yesterday (Saturday) but was able to get out at about 2pm so that was good. Didn't really do all that much the rest of the day though. Caught up with a tiny bit of my mail, watched some Food Network shows and cuddled with our cat Oliver.
Today I decided that it would be a good idea to organize my letter pile so I started doing that. You can see my work in progress in the picture. :) I basically tried to sort all my letters by continent and then by sender. It was interesting to look through all the letters. Always makes me kind of sentimental.
Also did something I have never done before. I caved and ordered from a Christmas catalog. Yes, in July! The only reason I did it was because it was a 20% off plus free shipping deal. All in all I saved about $12 on the items I bought and probably another $12 on shipping. In the past years I have refused to even look at the Christmas catalogs that come during the summer but I figured it was just too good of a deal to pass up. Plus I am always so stressed out during the holiday season anyway. Maybe it's not a bad idea to start planning ahead.
Not too much else new really. Two more days at work, then on Tuesday after work we are off to Washington DC. Going to meet up with Nicki again there and then head to Nashville+Memphis and Oklahoma City from there. Will be back in CT the folowing Monday. Definitely a very busy week but also fun, I am sure.
Mail Update: Mail is going out tomorrow to: Steff/Maine and Deanna/PA. Received letters from/still owe replies to: Alex/Germany, Nicki/OZ, Nina/WA, Jetta/Finland, Sarah/Canada and Kimber/Canada.

More Boston, NYC and Baseball
Thought I would post another update on Nicki's visit and life in general. :) Our rest of the stay in Boston was a lot of fun as well. We walked the Freedom Trail on Sunday which was a lot of fun. It's about a 3 mile walk but it goes by really quickly because you are constantly looking at different sights, taking pictures, etc.
In the afternoon we walked over to Newbury Street where all the shops are. Went to Whittard's (my favorite British tea store chain). I am so excited that Whittard's now has 2 stores in Boston plus they pretty much look excatly the same inside as they do in the UK. I was very happy. :) To see our Boston pictures click here.
Monday Nicki spent the day in NYC and we met up with her after work. Went to the Wharf Bar in midtown where my Austrian meet-ups are held.
And on Tuesday we met up with her in NYC again after work to go to a baseball game. Went to see the NY Mets against the Philadelphia Phillies. Had a great time at the game and the Mets were even ahead for almost the whole game but fell apart during the last 20 minutes. Oh well.
Mail Update: A letter has gone out to: Carmen/Malta. Received letters from/still owe replies to: Alex/Germany, Steff/Maine, Nicki/OZ, Deanna/PA, Nina/WA, Jetta/Finland, Sarah/Canada and Kimber/Canada.

Boston Update
Hello from Boston. :) Had a really nice day today here in Boston although it's been just scorching hot. Checked in at our hotel and then headed to the Hard Rock Cafe for lunch. After lunch we went to the Museum of Fine Arts. It's a really great museum plus it was air-conditioned so that was definitely an added bonus. :) After the museum we headed out to Cambridge to walk around Harvard for a little while. Had some yummy iced tea at Teavana.
In a little while we are going out for dinner at Beerworks. Tomorrow we will walk along the Freedom Trail to see all the important sights. It's supposed to be a tad cooler tomorrow (don't get me wrong - still hot though) so hopefully it won't be so bad to be outside. I really love Boston and love spending time here. It's fun to be able to show the city to a friend as well.
Mail Update: Mailed a letter today to: Tizz/Holland. Received letters from/still owe replies to: Steff/Maine, Carmen/Malta, Nicki/OZ, Deanna/PA, Nina/WA, Jetta/Finland, Sarah/Canada and Kimber/Canada.

NYC Day
It's been so nice having Nicki here. I always love when people come and stay with us - makes me feel like we are on vacation too. :) (she hit quite a lot of delays coming over here to the US and ended up arriving Monday morning instead of Sunday night) Spent a really nice day in NYC with Nicki yesterday. We went to the Bronx zoo yesterdy which is free on Wednesdays. It was great but very packed and also very hot. I was excited to see the newly opened Madagascar exhibit.
After the zoo we had lunch at Chevy's in Times Square, then headed down to South Street Seaport where you have a really great view of the Brooklyn Bridge and skyline. Afterwards Mike met us in the city and we had dinner at Arturo's, our favorite Italian pizza place in the Village. A very exhausting but fun day.
This weekend we are going to drive up to Boston which will be fun too. They are forecasting temps of around 93 degrees for Saturday so I think it will be another exhausting day but I am sure it will be great anyway.
Mail Update: Since the last update a letter went out to: Jessica/DE. Received letters from/still owe replies to: Carmen/Malta, Nicki/OZ, Deanna/PA, Nina/WA, Jetta/Finland, Sarah/Canada and Kimber/Canada.

Cleaning, Nicki's visit and anniversary
Can't believe my friend Nicki from Australia will really be here tomorrow. It seems like we have been talking about it for ages. In anticipation of Nicki's arrival we have been busy trying to de-clutter and clean the house a little to make it look presentable.
Today is also our wedding anniversary. Well, wedding anniversary no. 2. I am one of the few people with two wedding anniversaries since we got married twice, once in Austria and once in the US. The Austrian wedding was first (Feb 10, 2001), the US one was second (July 12, 2002). To celebrate we are going to have dinner at the Hopkins Inn, a really nice Austrian restaurant here in CT.
Well, I better go and continue my de-cluttering and cleaning mission. Will be pretty busy while Nicki is staying with us. Next weekend we are off to Boston. Will try and update somewhere in between.
Mail Update: Since the last update a letter went out to: Charles/TN. Received letters from/still owe replies to: Jessica/DE, Nicki/OZ, Deanna/PA, Nina/WA, Sarah/Canada and Kimber/Canada.

Happy Independence Day!
Happy 4th of July to everyone here in the US! We actually haven't really done anything special. Mike had to go into work for a few hours to make sure everything is all set for tomorrow. I stayed home and just vegged out for most of the day. Our cats were both really lazy too. :)
It was nice to have a "do-nothing" day after the way this week has been. It's just been nutty at work - haven't left work before 6:30 almost every single night. I guess I kind of predicted this would happen when the decision was made that our routes would not go out on the 4th. Oh well, one more day of this madness tomorrow and then everything will hopefully return back to somewhat normal next week.
I am really excited that Nicki's visit is getting closer and closer too. She will be here in only 9 days. Time has been flying so much. Can't believe it.
Mail Update: A letter is going out tomorrow to: Liana/NY. Received letters from/still owe replies to: Charles/TN, Nina/WA, Sarah/Canada and Kimber/Canada.
